Introducing KPDDI — and our new website

KPDDI — the Kireka Persons with Disabilities Development Initiative — is a grassroots, community-based organisation in Kireka, Wakiso District, Uganda.

We work alongside persons with disabilities, vulnerable children, elderly people and their families — more than 400 people each year — with food, shelter, help with education, and skills that build income and independence. A group of women with disabilities runs two small enterprises, tailoring and liquid-soap production. Our reading room is open, and our compound now has clean water.

This website is new, and it comes with a promise: we say plainly what is running today and what is still a plan. Our current programmes are on the What We Do page. The bigger vision — an inclusive school, a vocational institute, a community library, accessible shelters and a health facility — lives on Our Future Plans, where every project carries its honest status.

We are registered in Uganda as a company limited by guarantee and as a community-based organisation with Kira Municipal Council.
