Our Future Plans
A plan, not yet a building
Everything on this page is planned — not yet built. We publish our vision openly so partners can join early, and so our community can hold us to it. Each project shows its current status: Proposed (an approved ambition), In design, Fundraising, or In progress.
Inclusive School
A school in Kireka where children with and without disabilities learn together.
Accessible classrooms, teaching adapted to each learner, therapy support, sensory rooms and communication tools — education that expects every child to learn. The school would serve children with disabilities alongside their peers, because inclusion is learned young.
Vocational Training Institute
Practical trades, taught accessibly, chosen for real market demand.
Tailoring, carpentry, ICT and digital skills, crafts, agriculture, entrepreneurship and small-scale manufacturing — for youth and adults with disabilities. The institute grows out of what already works: our women's group proves every day that skills become income.
Free Community Library
The beginning already exists: our reading room in Kireka is open, with shelves of books and children at the tables.
The full vision is a free, open community library — accessible learning resources for children and adults, with and without disabilities, promoting literacy and a place where inclusion is ordinary. Books, shelving and reading volunteers move this forward fastest.
Residential Shelters
Safe, accessible places to live for people who have none.
Accessible accommodation for persons with disabilities, vulnerable children and elderly people facing homelessness or unsafe living conditions. Our long-term ambition is significant, and we will publish capacity plans as they are approved — we already provide shelter today at a small scale, and improving those existing spaces comes first.
Health & Rehabilitation Facility
Closing the distance between disability and healthcare.
An accessible health facility for the region: rehabilitation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, mental-health support, prosthetic services, post-trauma care and community-based rehabilitation — with telemedicine possibilities as connectivity allows.
Community & Administrative Centre
A home for the work itself.
KPDDI offices, community meeting space, support-service coordination, and training and resource rooms — where volunteers, partners and the community meet and the day-to-day work is organised.
Accessible Commercial Centre
Employment and trade that sustain the mission.
A future commercial development creating accessible employment and trading opportunities, promoting products made by persons with disabilities, and generating sustainable income for KPDDI — strengthening the local economy while funding the work.
Supporting infrastructure
Some pieces are already arriving: a borehole water point at our compound in Kireka was commissioned with partners.
The longer-term ambitions include internal roads, water systems, waste management, solar power, rainwater harvesting, green and recreational areas, security systems, accessible sanitation and social spaces.
How projects become real
- Verify — needs and plans are confirmed with the community before we promote them.
- Design — accessible by design, costed honestly.
- Fund — with named partners and clear agreements.
- Build — with progress reported as it happens, not just at ribbon-cuttings.
- Report — what was spent, what was built, what changed.
